Use all of those t-shirts you’ve been saving to create a wonderful memory quilt. Commemorate travels, hobbies, sports, schools or a whole lifetime in your quilt. These make great gifts for anyone who has a shirt collection that is getting a little out of control or if you want to preserve shirts that are “too special to wear out.” Basic machine quiltmaking skills are necessary, but you do not have to bring your machine to class. Learn to Knit Bags From Rags

Knitting is the hottest current craft for all ages. Anyone can transform fabric strips into a handy tote after a few hours of basic instruction. These bags are a perfect size for carrying a knitting or small quilting project. The class was created for non-knitters (age 12 and up), but even those with experience will enjoy making these bags. (You will get pre-cut practice strips at the first class for $4, payable to the instructor.)

Easy Applique My Way
Instructor: Sue Whitaker
Hand applique without all the fuss. Trace the pattern only once, baste, and stitch. No freezer paper, no penciled lines to wash out and no numbering of pieces. Accuracy is unavoidable with this method of applique. A kit fee of $3, payable to the instructor, will cover the cost of the fabric needed for practice. Bring a snack.

Piping Hot Binding

Practice the application and learn the possibilities of Susan Cleveland's Piping Hot Binding Tool. Bring a small quilted piece (even a placemat), binding and piping fabrics, the tool and your sewing machine to this 2 hour class. You will want to put piping accents on every quilt you make from now on!

Intermediate Hand Piecing

If you have taken Madge's basic hand piecing class or have beginning hand piecing experience, this class will expand your skills. The project is Simple Stars from the required book, Portable Patchwork. You will learn set-in seams, handling long points, diagonal set, twelve point meets, and using some quick machine piecing techniques for hand piecing. Also, we will explore the possibilities of combining hand and machine piecing in the same quilt. A half hour bring your own Lunch is planned.

Have you ever done the Bargello technique? The technique is all the same making a table runner or a wall hanging or a quilt. This technique utilizes rotary cutting and strip piecing and then you begin to twist and turn your way to a beautiful finish. It really is amazing how fast the process is.

If sewing with the wide variety of decorative threads leaves you frayed and tense, this is the class for you. In this hands-on class you will learn how to choose the proper needle and adjust your machine tension for each type of thread.

Fun & Done Wonder Quilt
Instructor: Karen Singley
Do you want to machine quilt your own quilts, but have trouble moving a large quilt in that small space? Learn about a quilt as you go method called “FUN and DONE”. . . . even the binding! This technique, using the Batting Buddy Templates, is quick and easy and allows you to complete the quilting as you assemble each block. You will learn the technique for assembling and joining blocks so your quilt can be completed a home at your leisure (however-you will quite a bit done in class) Once you have mastered the basic technique there is a whole series of patterns available that get progressively more challenging. Worried about the left over from making flying geese We’ll use the “no waste” method for making the flying geese needed in this quilt. Learn this technique and you’ll be flying along. Each quilt will look completely different because there are hidden secondary patterns, and you will be surprised what pops out. A half-hour bring your own lunch is planned.

Learn the basic skills of perfectly portable hand patchwork from Madge. Template making, cutting, and piecing will be covered as you construct a 12" traditional shoo-fly block that can be used for a pillow or table topper or repeated to make a quilt. There will be lots of samples and great tips.

Teen Sewing

Now that school is out do you want to do a little sewing for yourself? Teen Sewing is a special night saved just for those of you ages 11 – 14 years. 4 Nights of different projects are scheduled so come and take a look at what you can make. Sign up to make all the projects or just a few. Projects are pajamas, pillow case, overnight/tote bag, wallet/wrist purse and a desk top organizer. A sewing class at school is your pre-requisite for the class. If you do not have a sewing machine to bring with you then let us know we have a limited few and can reserved one for your use. Your teachers will have the basic supplies for sewing at the class for your use and kits (a fee payable to the teachers) will be provided for the projects with any of the extra’s needed. This two-hour lecture-demo is designed to give you an overview of quilt collecting, with emphasis on the dating and care of your quilts, tops and blocks. Strip sets, squares and rectangles help put this quilt together quick. ILLUSION is also made with strip sets and easy to construct because it's made using just one block rotated to make the design. A half hour bring your own Lunch is planned.

Autumn At the Courthouse

Debbie’s pattern is a combination of Courthouse Steps and Autumn Leaf blocks. In class you will learn her shortcuts for block construction, piece a one-leaf wall hanging, and receive instructions for all quilt sizes. A half hour bring your own Lunch is planned.

Start Quilting Beginner Machine Quilt Making

This 5 week class introduces you to the marvelous world of machine quilt making. Basics covered include rotary cutting, machine strip piecing, machine quilting and binding. This class stresses accuracy.
